One of The Greatest Excursions of All Time!

Everything was amazing. Alexander The Great was a superior tour guide and photographer! Big Papi William was the best driving. From touring the highest mountain, to rolling cigars, to tasting 7 kinds of rum…everything was amazing. And I don’t get me started on the food….deliciousness!!!!!Can’t wait to come back and bring friends! Be sure to ask for extra Gasoline when you go….(you’re welcome)
Eat, Drink and Be Merry

We booked this tour while coming in on a cruise and are so glad we did! Alexander the Great and Indiana Jones took great care of us. They were welcoming, kind, and happily showed us around their city.
We had no problem finding the pick-up spot from the cruise port with the directions provided. This was the perfect tour to see the many highlights of the area. The cable car was our first stop and we beat the crowd to get the most out of our time. The rum factory was next on the list and it did not disappoint. We then toured a fort, followed by lunch. We picked the authentic food option but they also offered a cheeseburger and vegetarian option if you are feeling less adventurous. The food and restaurant was exceptional! After lunch we were taken to the cigar factory and for additional sight seeing downtown.
Alex always kept the rum and coke (or sprite) flowing and was more than happy to snap photos of your group.
10/10 recommend and would book with this company again!
Great way to enjoy Puerto Plata!

Do not pass on this tour - it is a morning and afternoon filled with tons of fun. From the tram ride up the hill to the rum tasting to the cigar smoking to the wonderful lunch and so much more. Our tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable and friendly - he knew people everywhere we went and showed us a terrific time. Highly recommend. We booked directly - not through the cruise line - and everything went smoothly.
The best shore excursion for history and fun!

This tour was our favorite of the whole NCL cruise! It was upbeat and fun and very informative. Lunch was delicious at a beautiful restaurant, the Rum tour at Macorix was great and something I’ve never done before… the cigar rolling was a unique experience too! Diego was our driver and he even upon request took us for a quick stop at a public beach access so I could put my feet and legs in the water for a couple of minutes… Alex (the great) made the tour what it was:The Best! Walking to the pickup was easy from Amber Cove and we were greeted as family from the start and offered an ice cold coke or one with “gas” aka rum which we gladly accepted. We were given snacks as we drive along too. The view from the mountain after the cable car ride was incredible! I definitely recommend this tour!
Best Family Time

Best Shore Excursion Ever

This was easily the best excursion we've ever taken on a cruise. Our guide Eduardo and our driver John were courteous, professional and personable. The tour itself flowed easily and was full of value and interest. The tour stops were well chosen. Lunch was delicious and hospitable. I have some minor mobility challenges and Eduardo was gracious in accommodating me. We highly recommend this tour.
Great time in puerta plata

We had a fantastic tour with Alexander in Puerta Plata. He was very knowledgeable and extremely engaging all day long. We had a great day there and would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a fun day.
Fun day in port!

We booked this excursion instead of booking similar offerings through the cruise line. It ended up only being our family of 3 and we had an amazing time! Oneidas, our tour guide, ensured we were having fun every step of the way. We went up the mountain in a cable car, to a rum distillery, a fort, ate a great lunch in a beautiful setting and even rolled cigars and danced. What a day! Our driver, Jose, kept our glasses full of rum and coke at each stop and Oneidas was a pleasure to be around. We learned a lot about her homeland and she made us fell like family. Overall, a very memorable day for our family and I highly recommend this tour!
Fantastic Tour!

We did this tour last week on our Carnival cruise stop here. Alexander was an amazing guide, and our tour was nothing short of fantastic! I had researched the cable car before our trip, and I was amazed at all of the additional things Alexander was able to show us up at the summit. I would give this tour and company my highest recommendation, and hope to take another with IM again someday.
Great Day at Puerto Plata!

What a great, adventurous day at Puerto Plata. This tour was highly rated and so were our guides—Alexander the Great and Diego. They did not disappoint! We started the day with a stop at a cigar shop and factory where we could try, roll, and buy cigars. We were introduced to a local drink (if you drink alcohol, you must try this) and we were taught to dance the merengue by a local gal who dressed the part. It was loads of fun. It was here that we learned a few things. First, travelers should be prepared to offer a gratuity to literally everyone you come in contact with—not just your tour guides. That is clearly an expectation, though unwritten and unspoken. The gestures of your guests will say it all. There is a more direct expectation that you will purchase things in the places that you stop such as the cigar shop and the shop at the Redeemer statue.
The Redeemer statue is quite impressive and it is certainly worth taking the cable car to the top of the mountain to see it. There are restrooms there—BUT—be prepared to be pestered by the shop owners to drag you into their shops right after using the restroom. One shop owner tried to follow my wife into bathroom in order to get her name.
After the cigar shop and the merengue lesson we visited the Macorix Rum distillery. This was a great experience! The rums were exceptional. Be prepared—you are well plied by your guides with drinks (yep, even at 10:00 in the morning) before and after the distillery and literally everywhere. You can open carry “Dominican Gasoline” everywhere you go!
We then took the cable car tour (a phenomenal experience), had lunch at a local spot and toured important and beautiful spots around the city. Alexander took great care to share local history and information about nature. For people who enjoy experiencing cultural and natural history when they travel, this tour is a must.
Keep in mind—almost everyone you come in contact with will offer a way to take your money. This includes tourist traps and friendly people who are offering to take your picture. Be mindful of this and you will have a great time like we did.
